Hi have a Vonage Wifi phone and I don't like it. It's two small and
flimsy and lacks the polish of a cell phone. It also is sensitive to
being around wifi sources such as computers which is problematic in an
office environment. I have a Uniden PowerMax phone instead and it's much
better although of course it isn't WiFi. The promise of WiFi usage
anywhere doesn't really work out since you have to set up routing.
So here's the idea: A phone that uses WiFi to connect to the net and
that uses Skype to make and receive calls. This seems like it would
be easy to produce with current technology. Does it exist?
There have been home wireless skype phones for a couple of years now,
but I *think* all of them use a special wireless connection to the
home computer and that they do not use WiFi and they would not work
in, say, a coffeeshop that provides WiFi. They probably would work
with a laptop in a coffeshop though.
Any thoughts or experiences with this?
