It's an opportunity for education. They should be getting used to the 
idea that whipping off a quick email or IM to their friend is a 
different type of communication than composing a response to their 
instructor (or boss). It's good training for the future where they will 
be expected to know the difference and about as complicated a concept as 
not cussing around your mother.
