Yah.. now I'm feeling bad for having sent it. All the more so because
she then mailed me and asked if I was being mean to her, and if so, why?
Still, I find it offensive that someone makes a request and expects me
to decipher their message and mentally put in capital letters and commas
and then mentally fix their horrible spelling and grammar and still
occasionally coming up shy of understanding their message.
I really am bothered how kids from our 'government schools' aren't able
to concisely express a single thought in a logical manner, let alone try
to tell a procedural story, say, about the steps they took to try to get
their email working, or how the reached some conclusion.
I was a little sad that I hadn't included the following in the initial
mail, "This can hardly be categorized as a run-on sentence as it lacks
an introductory capital letter and fails to terminate with a period."
Our kids simply can no longer communicate in either written or spoken
format.

Ok, that hurt...
Are people like these the future of our country? I saw a recent Dear
Abby (possibly Ann Landers) column recently where a kid was complaining
about having to go to school and they knew everything they needed to
know. Is this what is happening to all the kids? I see a lot of
children with the same attitude and it has me wondering now. Since a
lot of this list is involved in some way with Academia, has anyone
noticed the trend of "that's what spellcheck is for" in students?
Thanks
Diana
