In case you are interested, I updated all the photos and added new ones:

Click where you see "larger version of it with a caption" -- that used to
link to a boring list of filenames but I have it fixed up with little
thumbnails now so it is a lot more useful.
Also note use of Google Maps on 8/17, 8/18 (views from roof), and 8/30.
The nice thing about Google Maps that distinguishes it from Google Earth,
is that it can give you a URL that will let you tell a user exactly where
the center of the map is and the zoom level. You don't know how big their
browser window is, so you don't know what they are seeing in the
periphery. Google Earth will label geographical landmarks. Google Maps
doesn't do that, yet, but it does use URLs and it doesn't require anything
but a browser to work.
Ecuador is a fascinating country. We only traveled a little bit on this
trip and spent most of our time living in the homes of Fanny's relatives
in the Quito metro area. We made a trip to the shore (Atacames) and
another trip to Otavalo. Next time (in a year or so) we will probably hit
the Galapagos Islands as part of our journey.
Best,
Mike
