So I'm not really a soccer/football fan at all, but I was surprised to
see France's great player (Zidane) take his team out of contention for
the World Cup with a truly pointless head butt against the Italian

inkling about why anybody would want to hurt this particular guy by
checking out the following "highlight" clip:

If you've played soccer at all before, it's pretty clear that this guy
is intentionally trying to hurt people out there, so I have no idea why
he's allowed anywhere near the World Cup in the first place...
He's a real bastard, I can see that, but he's also a very gutsy player who
goes after the ball even when there is likely to be a collision. I'm sure
that opponents are very worried when they have the ball and they see
Materazzi sprinting toward them! Evoking that fear has to be one of his
main objectives.
