Carfax is hiring again and this time I asked if I could repost the job description:

Systems Developer
Overview

Overview Responsible for the development and support of CARFAXs Inbound Data Processes and Systems. These inbound processes consist of systems that support the receipt of supplied data; the inventory and quality assurance of the data; the transformation of the data to CARFAX standards; the collection of metrics to support the processing; and the loading of data to the database used to deliver our Vehicle History Reports and other associated products.

Job Function

* Works from high-level requirements to develop system designs, conduct data analysis

* ·Performs troubleshooting, problem solving, tuning, and repairs and/or maintenance as appropriate

* Applies all phases of life cycle methodology to enhance our core applications and databases.

    * Conducts peer code and specification reviews.

* Creates project and testing plans while tracking and communicating status to both management and developers

Qualifications

* Ability to analyze, troubleshoot, problem solve and discriminate between important and unimportant details, recognize inconsistencies between facts, and draw correct inferences from information.

* Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and to analyze and interpret data in order to draw valid conclusions for complex business issues.

* Education: Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or equivalent educational & work experience

    * 3 plus years of programming experience

* 2 years as a systems programmer doing related work on systems similar to CARFAX

* A Plus: VMS or similar environment experience, DCL or similar environment experience, PL/1 language experience, PL/SQL experience, Java experience, Oracle database experience
