On a semi-related note, that feature you see, the Send Report feature, well it really doesn't send anything at all. We checked it out one day.

We had a machine where that came up, the machine was not connected to the network at all, we went ahead and clicked "Send Report' anyway and got a message that the report was successfully sent! WHAT? How did it get sent, brainwaves?

So we decided to see what happened when it was connected to the network, we hooked up Ethereal and monitored the traffic coming from the machine, we then caused a crash and clicked send report. No packets were created and sent even though we got the message the report was sent.

Now it is possible that it is sent at a later time, perhaps when Windows update is run or something like that. Who knows for sure? Probably not even Microsoft.

That is very cool. I will bet that you are right in guessing that it is sent at update time. Microsoft should want the data -- most of it is about how they are causing their competitor's programs to crash!
