On my headphones I, who am 28, can hear it but not when it plays from
speakers. My gf that is 23 and much less deaf than myself can hear it
from both and says it's annoying.
I remember an article a while back about a company that was selling
devices that made this sound for use around stores and such to keep
young people from just hanging out and causing trouble. It seems of
limited use though if it annoys most people in their twenties - people
which are likely to be customers I don't want to drive away.
