That, young grasshopper, is why you use those formative years to become devious =)

On a more serious note, I firmly believe that the malaise you're talking about comes about largely because as we get older, we settle into patterns of work/sleep/work/sleep that simply doesn't require a whole lot of additional thought. The brain is just like any other organ, if it goes unused, then it atrophies.
