Oddly enough, I believe they are currently experiencing just that.
I've read articles that indicate there is currently a 3-1 male/female
ratio, which has led to an increase in the abduction of female
infants. The families are apparently kidnapping female babys in order
to make sure their son has a bride...

Yes, but that's social, not genetic, which is where I made my mistake in
my first musings on the subject. The ratio of male/female babies born
for pregnancies has not changed significantly.
Apparently it's about 40k for us to adopt a little Chinese girl from
PRC, and about 8k of that is a not-under-the-table bribe to the Chinese
government whom you would think would be all to glad to get some space
cleared out of their orphanages. Apparently the PRC Gov will only deal
with one adoption agency here in the US and to adopt you have to go
through their procedure and that procedure costs approx 40k.
*sigh*

By this theory, wouldn't the Chinese have stopped producing female
babies? (Yes, I know it doesn't really follow, but it was the first
thing that popped into my head when I started thinking, "what are
some traits that could be so adverse to a parent (especially one with
post-postpartum hormones flowing) to cause the parent to be less
caring then they are naturally apt to be", and this one popped into
my head.)
