Now there's a weird web page...from contextual cues, not much of that
has been updated for some time, yet the links to most things do work. The one I just downloaded was this one:

http://education.mit.edu/starlogo/

Of course, it doesn't do me much good at the moment since I don't know
any Logo. :-)

There are programming environments _made_ for kids. Logo has several
desirable factors: Ease of starting, visual feedback, quick
gratification, attention to fundamental procedural & OO concepts, and
as a side effect boosting spatial and coordinate smarts.

It looks like we have a true believer here... My memory of the old (before 1990 or so) Logo literature was that it worked fabulously well
for some kids and when taught by some people who knew what they were
doing, but that it was no panacea. But that seems to me to be
basically a valid summary of almost _any_ educational project hatched
within the last 20 years, which I guess is why I'm not an Ed School
kind of person. :-)
