you're trying to get them to work well with things that are true. An

I know. That is your solution to all religious type problems.
It's the correct solution. It's also a solution to many problems in
science: Try an entirely different way. We had to reject phlogiston
theory, not improve it. Same for Lamarckian theory. There are many
examples.
With religion, the religious person usually closes his mind to other
possibilities. He stays within his framework and refuses to "think
outside the box," as they say.
