Oops.. ignore my last... I reread your message and you're entirely correct. cmd.exe is I believe Winnt/2k/xp and command.com everything else.

Thanks. I'll try that. I'll try some tests at some point to see how I'm supposed to handle this stuff most effectively.

It is interesting that I could not delete the file from a Cygwin RXVT terminal, but I could delete it from Command Prompt. More research is needed!
