Mike's specific question seemed rather odd to me, because there was

I thought you were saying that people could do bad things against God's
will.
The point you bring up - doesn't God's will being irrestistable cancel
out the concept of free will - is definitely an interesting question.
I think that I have to answer "no" because otherwise the Bible doesn't
make any sense. I think that Proverbs 16:9 makes the point well:
In his heart a man plans his course,
but the LORD determines his steps.
It's a fun idea -- there is a supreme master of the universe who can
control all things except for us! Just us. We have "wills" that are free
to control our bodies and cause them to do things which impact on the
world around us. So how can God be in control of everything if our free
wills are not controlled by God and our actions alter the world around us?
Yet another good reason not to believe these fairie tales! ;-)
