The site seems to be slashdotted, though, although curiously enough, it
hasn't been mentioned on slashdot...yet. Obviously, if speeds are
anything like a native boot, then this would end up being the most
popular way to run XP on the Mac. Apple's stock went up 10% yesterday
on the announcement of BootCamp, and is up another 3.5% today. The
stock is obviously over-priced, but the stock movements do, I think,
reflect real enthusiasm.
I would think that the investor would be seeing boot camp as a way to move
Windows users off of Windows altogether. This will be great for Apple, of
course, but I think it is also good for Linux and FreeBSD. It will even
be good for Windows users because it will start to make Microsoft less
complacent about their monopoly status.
