I don't think I was suffering from lack-of-swap thrash, but just plain
old not-enough-RAM to-run-Firefox-or-OpenOffice.org thrash. Going
from 192 MB to 384 MB helped a _lot_.
But, yeah: I could try adjusting the swap space size, too.
