From my (albeit very limited) understanding of the proposal, necessities like food would be exempt which would ease the burden on the poor considerably. How many TVs and cars does a family buy when they're having trouble keeping food on the table?

I would agree with a true flat tax. Of course a flat tax of 14 or 20%
would be considered a hardship for the poor in the country. At least
that is what killed it when Forbes was running for it.

A consumption tax would be good, but then again the poor in the
country would get hit harder.

Of course this is what the politicians tend to say. For me, I think
many of them are in the pockets of teh lawyers and tax preparation
lobby. How much money does HR Block make every tax year?
