This bill is idiotic because the scholarship dollars per student we're talking about aren't enough to actually get someone to school that wouldn't have otherwise. Unfortunately, that's how they're presenting it politically.

To cap Missouri's colleges and universities at the level of what they
got in 2001 (and in nominal rather than real dollars at that!) is just
about the most idiotic idea I have ever heard.  I remember 2001, and I
think it's fair to say that that was not exactly a banner year when
the money around here flowed like honey or anything.  Since then, of
course, we've been admitting more students than ever, so what the
proposed bill actually would entail would be to *cut* real per-student
funding for Mizzou.  (I'll need to check, but I think the relevant
values here are about a 15% decrease due to inflation since 2001
coupled with at least a 10% rise in students.)

Could somebody who has the cred please try to talk some sense into the
current administration so that they work to undo this?
