I've been experimenting with several options.  MediaWiki and Drupal seem to be the most solid choices of the open source variety.  MediaWiki is the most polished solution for a pure wiki, but it isn't an all-in-one content management system like Drupal.  Considering that Drupal is 5 years old and that there are a number of commercial services based on it like Bryght, I'd say it's a pretty safe bet.  Then again, MediaWiki is the foundation of Wikipedia and so you know it can scale with the right resources and management behind it.

But there are a billion options out there, and so you should play with as many of them as is feasible. Just do a quick smell check to see if they stand a chance of meeting your requirements.

Have fun!

Well, it's been a while, so I thought I'd ask.

What are people's favorite wiki packages right now, and why?

My last go was with TikiWiki, and it was... well... frustrating.  That
experience was more than a year ago however.
