The ICR themselves give several answers to this. First, its far from a complete list but rather just a list of those directly involved with the ICR. (See below for notes on the deceased.) Furthermore, there are so many individuals like Mike in the scientific fields that immediately discount a person that professes belief in something other than evolution.

People who are willing to foresake science for a creation myth deserve to be "discounted." It might help them to get along with their religious friends, and maybe they get some money from the ICR, but they aren't presenting an alternative *scientific* theory. If they have one, I'll listen, but the fact is -- there is no alternative scientific theory to evolution. That's all there is. In 150 years of careful study by hundreds of thousands of people spending millions of hours, evolution totally destroyed every competitor. We now know something very deep about our origins and the origins of all species. It is really sad that the religious people can't break out of their restrictive belief systems to see the obvious truth.

As a scientist I am allowed to believe anything at all. There are no rules. There is no rule saying that I must support evolutionary theory. In religion it is different. Many religious people believe that their religion tells them where the world and all living things came from. Those people will not listen to evidence. They avoid putting themselves in touch with the facts. They question even the most well established aspects of evolutionary theory without even looking at the evidence. Rather than see this as tragic, I prefer to see it as comical. They are preposterous and I can enjoy laughing at them. They are more than deserving of this treatment.
