I would agree to a point with teachers. I think when a school board or
superintendent has the power to actually fire a teacher that is not
performing well then we can pay teachers more. The problem is the
teacher's unions have such a strangle hold on firing practices in this
country, (at least they do in California, and I have heard similar in
other states) then we cannot as a rule pay teacher's more.
