Next, I do not listen to Dr. James Dobson, (by the way, he is a real
doctor, show him the respect you would from any other person that has
achieved that title!).
When did I say something disrespectful about Dobson? A "real doctor"
can be a complete ass, or a manipulative liar, just like anybody else.
He has a PhD in child development. Wow. That's friggin' amazing. I
worship him now that I know about that degree.
Is it not customary in the world of academia to use the title Dr. when
referring to someone who has attained that degree? When you refer to the
person is it not disrespect to NOT use the title when referring to the
person? Maybe you can explain that since it seems that the many times I
left off the title when referring to someone, I have been quickly
reminded that it is proper to use the term.
I don't recall ever being called Dr. Miller on this list, but I have a
Ph.D. (a doctoral degree every bit as good as Dobson's) and three Masters
degrees in addition to that.
We don't usually make an issue of it. It is not disrespectful to call me
Mike or Mike Miller or Michael Miller or just Miller depending on the
cotext. We should not expect to be revered.
Its not that you said anything disrespectful about him, in fact, I could
care less, but by leaving off the Dr. title are you not belittling him
just a little bit?
No.
Mike
