Fiddlesticks! There have been studies in the past year about people being pushed to have abortions, especially in free and community and student clinics. I'll have to see if I can find them. They were very very disturbing. I think one of the stories was in Focus on the Family's Citizenlink.

Are you sure they weren't just spinning a good yarn to rally the troops? Why would clinic workers want women to have abortions?

Yes, I'm sure. Even more for having a personal example that exactly matches those in the studies. There's lots of anecdotal evidence in addition to some kind of like 'under cover investigative news reporting' kind of stuff.

The fact that this had anything to do with her being Korean has nothing to do with speculation. They patronized her. They told her how they were understanding of 'her situation'. They assured her that she would remain anonymous, etc, etc, etc. They treated her like she could not understand English, and ignored the fact that she spoke flawless English. There was no question they altered their behavior because she was Korean, or more likely, they were too ignorant to know that, and treated her as a generic 'Asian'.

Why doesn't she sue them?

Well.. it was a very emotional time for them. Their response of NOT suing them is very typical of those who actually go through a legitimate experience like this, as opposed to your standard frivolous lawsuit.

The guy is a field commando and he was ready to go there and raise the roof at first. Of course his wife did all she could to stop him because she could see past the immediate satisfaction of doing what he wanted to and loosing her husband to prison. Good sense prevailed.

Of course it sat and percolated. They had a legal consultation and were told that it would be impossible to prove damages.

That didn't go over well, but really the whole thing fell apart for them when she miscarried and they went through the ensuing depression.

It's rather difficult to get litigious when you've been through the emotional wringer.

Raina and I never really have gotten over our miscarriage. There was some garbage in some of the things we went through that could have at least amounted to filing some complaints with the medical care she was given.

We just had no fight left in us afterwards. We cried over the miscarriage, and the bad stuff was just more to cry over. We weren't in the place to raise a stink. We were actually anxious to get to that numb place, not keep stirring the embers.

Anyways. That's just how I see it.
