Did you read "How Christianity (and Capitalism) Led to Science"? It's
in the same issue of The Chronicle - December 2, p. B11 (just before the
Narnia article in the print version). I get the print version from a
friend but I don't have access to the online version or I'd send a URL.
I am interested in this article. I have read only part of it so far,
but I will read the rest and I may want to discuss it with you if you
have the time. Quote: "The success of the West, including the rise of
science, rested entirely on religious foundations." I doubt I will
arrive at the same conclusion as the author after reading his article,
but I'll try to predict my reaction as "Christianity had some features
that allowed science to progress better than under some other
religious/social systems."
