have you checked out the nokia 770, yet? may not have everything
you're looking for...but it's a good start.

i really want a handheld/pda that runs just a shell interface. i want
a device i can check email via mutt with gnupg, surf via links, work
via vi, etc.

i don't need a goofy palm or ce interface. i want a full command line
on a versatile little pda. something with enough space to install
perl/python/php or similar so i can write custom scripts. something i
could build little ncurses apps on to handle all my rss feeds.
something that i can take to an office and run snort, nmap,
traceroute, etc to do network auditing.

that is my dream device.
