I've said before that I felt the election was essentially tie and it is not such a bad thing that it went to Bush, but that doesn't mean that I think Bush has been anywhere near as competent as Gore would have been.

I think Gore would have wussed out when it came to doing something post 911. As it is I think Bush has waffled a bit to much but mostly that's an inability to control public opinion and not a lack of seeing to actually finishing the war we started so that it hasn't been a wasted effort.

Of course my original plan or raining hell and damnation on every country suspected at involvement withing the first 3-6 months after the attack would have worked better. Flattening the countries completely would scare the shit out of anyone considering future involvement and during that time period the rest of the world and local sentiment was on our side. We could have scorched earth Iraq and nobody would have objected. Having done that we could have poured out massive amounts of humanitarian aid to countries that helped us and won a lot of goodwill amongst those we'd frightened by our show of overwhelming force. All in all it'd have been cheaper, faster, and cost fewer US lifes. Fighting a gentle war is expensive, slow, and less effective.
