None of this matters. Soon I will succeed in conquering the world and 
will become your one true leader. Join me now and earn yourselves high 
places in this new world order. Together we will bitch slap all the 
governments of Earth and rule in absolute power. Bwhahahaha!

.. Okay.. maybe my take on all this is a bit goofy but really don't you 
think all these on going bitching about Republicans or Democrats or 
whatever is a bit goofy? They're all hucksters with nothing but 
maintaining their own power on their minds. If you really think any of 
them, as a party, have the ultimate solution to life, the universe, and 
everything (I just made that up BTW!) then why hasn't any of them came 
out and given us their grand plan for making everything shiny and happy. 
They have no fucking idea what to do to improve the world. Most of them 
probably wouldn't want to even if they could because it'd no doubt mean 
that we'd no longer need them so they'd lose their power. It's really 
all a meaningless power struggle.

It'd be more interesting, if we're going to bicker anyway, to bicker 
over what it is we think should be the goals of humanity in the long 
term and short term and how we're going to get there.

My first three goals are:
1.) To continue. We don't want to die out as a species.
2.) To advance. We don't want to become stagnant in the arts or 
sciences. Advancement to me is the hallmark of humanity.
3.) Freedom. We don't want to be told what to do, how to do it, or when 
to do it by anyone as individuals or as a species.

These are pretty basic as a start but even these could be debated for 
decades. Not everyone wants life, advancement, and freedom or at least 
not to be shared equally amonst everyone. Even those that do don't know 
how to deliver that promise as of course it's impossible to deliver to 
everyone. To live, some of us must die. To advance, we must take risks 
and make changes. To have freedom we must take on the personal 
responsibility of respecting the freedoms of others. Everything has a cost.

A few short terms goals I think should be:
1.) To recognize that as a species and as a country we're walking blind. 
We're so short sighted as to the ultimate out come of our decisions that 
we don't seem able to see at all. We need to think long term.
2.) To decide on what level we want to fight for freedom. Do people who 
don't want freedom have the freedom to refuse freedom or do we go in 
there and force them to recognize freedom and claim it as there right? 
Is it good to leave them happy without or should we give it to them even 
if it makes them unhappy?
3.) To decide how much power we're really going to give to businesses. 
Having cast off our government overlords are we just going to allow 
corporations to usurp that role? Do corporations really have the same 
rights as a human being? Do they have responsibilities likewise?
4.) To go forth and colonize the oceans and space. C'mon we haven't 
colonized much of anything in the past century. What's wrong with our 
species?
5.) To improve our use of resources. No reason to detroy Earth. Smarter 
use of resources means we can do more with less.
6.) Universal food, medicine, housing, education, and utilities 
(electricity, water, sewer, and communication) for every human being. We 
have the resources so why aren't we doing it?
7.) A job for everyone. There is no excuse for it being so difficult to 
find a job or for it being so difficult to find a job where your skills 
are put to good use.
8.) Happiness. Why is it just accepted that most people are going to be 
unhappy most of the time? Surely there are reasons. If you take care of 
those above I'd assume that most others are emotional. Lack of love, 
sex, family, and friendship would be my guess as to the four most 
common. Maybe we could do something about them?

Probably a bit more questionable but stuff that I'm interested in.
