I think a lot of things killed the street cars.  I think that, mainly,
it was due to a lack of public support.  They were seen as outdated,
freeways and personal transportation were new.  Everyone wanted to be
whizzing around in their cars going directly to where they wanted to go
instead of the old reliable where you didn't know who you might sit by.

I do agree about the right of way.  Man, the Claytonites put up a stink
about it!
