things have improved slightly. after an hour on the phone with linksys
we determined that i bought a lemon. seems there was either a bug or
defect in the WRT54G v5 that i picked up.

so, after a quick trip to best buy for an exchange, i can happily
report my router is no longer capping my speed. i've got a WRT54G v4
with the latest firmware.

speakeasy's test was reporting my service at ~50kbps with the
defective router. now, i'm hitting ~1800kbps.
