The problem is, the government officials will get this extra money,
then they will take the money they are currently spending on roads and
sidewalks and spend that money on something else with a zero net sum
gain for roads and sidewalks.
Exactly. If the government would spend tax dollars on something that
would benefit me even if through a long domino effect I'd not mind so
much. All I can see though as it going to make politicans rich and their
wealthy friends richer yet. That money filters through a lot of red tape
and sticky fingers before it actually reaches the taxpayer's intended
usage. With such waste and corruption I may as well keep my own money
and do something useful with it myself.
That's not even counting the number of stupid but popular things the
government wastes money on. Just cus 50% of people want to spend money
on something idiotic doesn't mean I want to.
