Just thought I'd mention that every Thursday the guy in the office
nextdoor to mine is the very amiable Hubert "Skip" Humphrey III. He is
the son of the former Vice President of the United States. He is also a
former state Attorney General and he lost the Minnesota Governorship to
Jesse Ventura by a fairly narrow margin in a three-way contest. He's on
our faculty now...

I think he has that appointment mostly so that he can teach a course on
public health and the law. He also led the massive tobacco law suit that
brought a few *billion* dollars to our state from big tobacco.
It is very cool for a nobody like me to have a cool guy like Skip Humphrey
around to chat with on Thursday afternoons. Today he is really into the
idea that Americans need to do a little better in their preparedness for
emergency situations. Who can disagree? We supposedly have lots of
plans, but can we implement them quickly under the pressure of an
emergency? It seems unlikely right now and we need to do better next
time.
Mike
