If they could get the National Guard in there, it would help, but I guess the Guard are too busy in Iraq.

Thats a Liberal "Un-Truth" floating to the surface once again from Mike.

Only 1/3 of the Louisiana National Guard are in Iraq and the rest have been deployed to help with the clean up along with 21,000 other National Guards men from around the country. If you hear the liberals tell it though there is no Louisiana National Guard because they are all in Iraq.

I didn't say it because I'm a "liberal", Jerry, I said it because I haven't heard anything about National Guard deployment in the area. Someone (you?) just sent us something claiming that hoards of armed maniacs are roaming the streets looting from million dollar mansions, etc. I would have thought that 21,000 National Guardsmen would have gotten that under control.

The article you recommend starts like this:

The Army National Guard, already stressed by deployments to Iraq and
Afghanistan, is doubling the number of troops it plans to send to the
  Gulf Coast

So I don't think there is no merit to the idea that Iraq is making it hard for us to take care of our own. The 21,000 troops still aren't there yet, but they expect to have 28,000 there soon. I'm sure that will help, but if we weren't fighting in Iraq, we would have gotten on this quicker.

Mike
