The only thing you have to be careful of is that alot of animals that

About 20 years ago, a friend of mine adopted a dog, part beagle, I think,
from a pound. The dog had been kept since birth, almost all the time, in
a small cage about 5'x5'. The dog was unable to walk in a straight line.
It was funny but sad to see. The dog could run only about 3 steps before
turning at a sharp 90-degree angle. I would hope that a few years in an
open back yard would fix that, but I'm not so sure. The dog's tendency to
turn its head suddenly, and to then follow its head, seemed to be deeply
ingrained.
