Nope, but there was a guy and his son trying to give away puppies in
the Sam's Club parking lot last weekend. There are frequent "free
pet" ads around, I think. We only do cats, and you can just about
always get kittens at the animal shelters.

Good idea. This is Missouri, so those were likely puppy farm puppies
and that is just not a pretty scene. Way more amusing is to end up
with a dog who is part dachsund and part German shephard or something.
