That's why I think that democracy is a passing fad, that will last a few
hundred years more, and then someone will find a better way to create
altruistic governments.
(I have absolutely no idea what this better form of government is going
to be, but my prediction is that the Chinese will discover it.
Incidently, what form of government does the Federation in Star Trek
have? Is it known? I do get the impression that it is rather
authoritarian.)
