Here is my guess how the next few hundred years are going to work out.
China will become a stronger and stronger world power. At some point,
it will see major Christian revivals and become the cultural center for
Christianity in the world. This will include its leadership. This will
be something like what happened in Rome in the 4th Century.
China's government will reform and no longer be corrupt. But my guess
is that it will never adopt democracy, but will develop a different form
of government that is more authoritarian in nature, but much more
altruistic than a typical totalitarian government. Quite possibly
democracy in its current form will go out of fashion.
I am not quite sure how America will fare. One possibility is that the
grand experiment of libertarianism, with its odd compromise of
Puritanical Christianity and Enlightenment Humanitarianism will not be
the grand success it was meant to be. But I suspect that while it may
gradually fade from the forefront, it will stay as a strong influence in
the world, very much like Britain is today.
