Gmail is now allowing non-javascript enabled browsers to use a "standard
HTML" view. I hoped this would mean that I could read Gmail from my Treo
600 cell phone. Alas, Gmail returns an error "Your browser's cookie
functionality is turned off. Please turn it on." But the browser is
configured to "accept cookies."
Apparently, the google folks messed this up for some configurations of
IE...

The Google team offers this suggestion:
"try logging in securely by changing the URL to https://gmail.google.com";
