Vern - the point here is just what it always is in politics. One group of
powerful people is trying to get something from another group of powerful
people and they are attempting to influence public opinion as part of
their competitive game. Both parties do this, of course. The important
issue is the judges - who they are, what they will probably do, why the
Republicans want those things done, and why the Democrats do not want
those things done. The arguments about fairness are a smoke screen.
