Well, *I* certainly take this as a geek challenge. :-)

Seriously, I think Gmail does limit attachment sizes somewhat, or else
I'd suggest spending some time figuring out what the largest single
non-archive, non-repetitive, non-trivial file of some general value
that you could send somebody would be.

It would matter to me, since I would certainly look into using gmailfs
and having all of my stuff stored (and backed up) by google at that
point.  2 gigs of email is nice in theory, and would last about me
about 10 years at my current usage rate, so I never do throw anything
away now.  But 1 gig of email and 1 gig of (say) website would have
been far more valuable to me overall.  So the fact that this is *not*
what google offered is probably meaningful.
