Two things for me: (1) I can play the guitar fairly well and I can hardly
play the keyboard at all and (2) it just seems way cool to get lots of
different sounds out of a guitar.
You raise a good point though and it probably explains why guitar synths
haven't been a huge success. People probably hire a keyboardist when they
want to hear a synth.
