Things I use it for:

cell phone
address book
calendar - I sync with Meeting Maker
web browser
e-mail
stereo MP3 player (up to 1 GB card) - connect to headset or stereo system
PalmVNC
digital camera
display image files (e.g., photos of the kids)
spanish-english dictionary
games
Vindigo - great in cities (traveling, or where I live)
flashlight - bright display really lights up a dark area
watch - it has the time automatically set
world times - many major cities in a neat global display
includes sunrise/sunset info for every day of the year
dictaphone - freeware from the 'net - could be better, but a great idea
calculator - very nice little calculator comes with it
CountIt - cool program, just started learning about it
           http://palmguy.surfhere.net/
you could use it to count flies

You can use the Treo with your laptop to get internet access for the
laptop wherever you have internet access for your Treo.

The battery lasts pretty well, but you can plug it into your car cigarette
lighter with the right optional equipment.

Of course, you might have no need for any of these things nor any interest
in them. For me, it worked out beautifully because I dumped my landline
and stuck with the cell phone. It didn't cost much more and it gave me a
lot of great stuff. (I was paying a ridiculous $51/mo for a landline with
the works, but now I pay $70 to Sprint for the same features - three-way
calling, caller ID, call waiting, etc. PLUS I have a lot of free long
distance [all weekend, after 7 pm weekdays and 500 mins "anytime"] PLUS I
have the always-on unlimited internet service for the phone/PDA.) This is
saving me money altogether and it is extremely convenient. I travel a lot
for work and can really use this thing.

Vindigo is a great thing but it will be much less useful in Columbia than
in the Twin Cities.
