The big difference being, of course, that this is a plastic mock-up of
a PC concept made by a company that doesn't itself manufacture PCs,
while the Mac mini is a shipping product (which admittedly still has a
2-3 week backlog).  That said, if Intel started to produce
motherboards and  chipsets that would make manufacturing ultra-small
PCs easier, the concept is likely to take off.

I seriously thought of buying a Mac mini to replace the year 2000
vintage iMac, but the tricked out version of that I really wanted was
getting pretty close to $1000 when I speced it.  The Powerbook special
at the 'Spectrum was $999 for something you can take with you, or use
as a large-ish Mac mini if you really wanted to.

I still haven't figured out anything useful to do with Bluetooth,
though, since I don't have a cell phone.
