I definately agree with this. I bought a Powerbook for two main
reasons.. 1) I'd like to support companies I feel are still innovating
in the technology field (unlike Intel and Microsoft in my opinion) and
2) I'm trying to move my photography hobby to a photography
side-business and while I still use the GIMP, its nice my camera just
plugs into my laptop and works.

I was very surprised when I installed Xcode to get gcc and such and
found that for free (or at least part of the cost of the OS), Apple
provides me with a very good IDE and project management system. I
admit my past IDE was vi and make, but that was because I never saw
the need in the monster that is Visual Studio. Add in the fact Xcode
manages not only Cocoa based projects, but also Carbon (basic C
libraries), Java and a host of specialized environments like Sherlock
channels (these really rock). Certainly a very nice feature that comes
with the OS.
