In last night's VP debate Dick Cheney urged the viewing audience to go to
FactCheck.com to get the "truth" to supposedly prove the point he didn't
have time to make in the allotted time period.
Turns out that FactCheck.com is a George Soros site with the banner
headline: "Why we must not re-elect President Bush." Marvelous!
Cheney meant to send us to FactCheck.org (.org, not .com), which is a
non-partisan site. If viewers had gone immediately to the site, they would
have seen this as the top headline:
Bush Mischaracterizes Kerry's Health Plan
10.04.2004
Bush claims Kerry's plan puts "bureaucrats in control" of medical
decisons, "not you, not your doctor." But experts don't agree with
that.
Today they have a different top headline:
Cheney & Edwards Mangle Facts
10.06.2004
Getting it wrong about combat pay, Halliburton, and FactCheck.org
So go to http://www.factcheck.org/ and see what they found to be
inaccurate in the two debaters' statements. It's super slow today because
of all the traffic generated by Cheney's misstatement and the resulting
media attention.
