- Thread-topic: [MLUG - DISCUSSION] misleading Bush statements from the debate
The interesting thing about this election is that I have not heard much
pie in the sky stuff from Bush. I hear mostly optimistic idealisms. That
might be counted as pie in the sky, but it's an outlook not a promise.
The promises I hear from Kerry have been lighting up my "Campaign
Promise" warning meter. He seams to promise a lot of the things bush is
doing or has tried to do. He says he would do it different. When they
ask how, he says he would build a larger coalition. What if he could
not? What then? Just drop things? I think that is the next step in logic
people want him to answer, but no one has asked. In the debate, I think
every one feels Bush was off his game. He seams to have had trouble
concentrating. Kerry was articulate, but the content didn't seam to
extend past the content I get from his TV ads.
One question I have about the world coalitions, as was in Bosnia and
other places. What was the troop count from each nation, and how much of
the cost did the others bear? People grumble about how much we have to
pony up in Iraq, but I am having trouble with the idea that it would be
any cheaper in lives or money if the other countries actually joined in.
Are there any resources, reliable neutral resources, that gives this
information for past military actions? Another question, would Iraq view
a UN Occupier any different than the way they view us? I know I
wouldn't. Half dozen of one six of another.

Again, you have to look at both sides to get the real story...
