This discussion is certainly good for a few chuckles. Just for kicks, I
tried to google for some Russian poll info on Bush and the Presidential
elections (something that has a word "буш" in it), and it's just too bad
most of you can't read it. He-he-he >:) Very entertaining stuff.

Anyhow, most of the information that the Russians get about American
life comes from digests of American media (or BBC) made by Russian news
agencies, and since we have established earlier on this list that most
big-name media outlets around here have a liberal slant, then that's the
best information the Russians have to go by.

Here's an interesting poll as of Aug 26, 2004, showing some trends:

It seems that Russian opinion of Bush has improved somewhat since
September 2003 (earliest data), and the military (foreign) policy is
viewed as his biggest constructive accomplishment as a president,
slightly ahead of the internal affairs and the economy. However, Iraq
troubles are seen as his biggest mistake by far. Kerry should go campain
to Russia - he has a three-fold lead over Bush there but only named as
"another candidate" :)

Oh wait, it comes in English, too (but only as of Apr 1, 2004, so we
can't really believe it, can we?)

I suppose you could simply go to http://english.fom.ru/ and search for
"Bush". If I search for Kerry, though, all I get is Jim Carry and Mariah
Carey.

Enjoy,
