This is what I took from the speech found at the link below:
1. Increased military spending and coalition-building. Whoo Ahhh - sounds good
to me and I'll pay for it.
2. Keep jobs here. Ugg - it's called competition and a free market - innovate or
get out of the way. If that means realizing we're a service and
information-based economy rather than a product economy so be it. If that means
you can't go back to school because you have 4 kids then deal with it - you made
the choices and they are yours to deal with. I don't feel sorry for an American
worker whose union insists on $15 an hour when Mexico can do it for $5 an hour -
it's called a free market - get used to it.
3. Don't privatize social security. Ugg - personal responsibility? It's *my* job
to plan for my future - not yours.
4. Increased pay and emphasis for teachers and education. Yaaa - as long as we
raise the bar for teachers as well. I've no problem paying a teacher as much as
a lawyer or doctor if they have to go through as much. I'll pay for that.
5. Universal health care. I don't recognize health care as a basic human right.
That said, I'm willing to pay for it because I'm a nice guy.
6. Oil. I agree in principle. We get a small percentage of our crude from
outside North America, and only a small percentage of that goes to gasoline.
I've seen this is multiple places but don't have a source handy. Get off this
issue - it isn't a big deal in all honesty.
