Mike covered your war stuff, and it's all correct so that's out of the
way. I'll pick up some other things:
> Are not the democrats for gun control? Isn't that eliminating
> some of my rights?
Yes, they are and yes, it is. I'm not for gun control at all. I
absolutely hate guns and I wouldn't own one. But I wouldn't take away
anyone's right to own one either. That goes for just about any time of
weapon, up to a point. When you're talking things like surface-to-air
missiles, nuclear warheads, etc., that's just off-limits for everyday
people. There is a line that has to be drawn there - sure, you might
have legitimate claims to have a fully automatic assault rifle, a sniper
rifle, some grenades, etc., but when you can blow a plane out of the sky
or you can destroy an entire city, chances are you'll be able to obtain
the arms illegally and use them in an illegal manner anyway. So guns
and other personal weapons, yes; implements of large-scale war, no.
> Havent the democrats passed law after law limiting what
> corporations can do? Isn't that eliminating some of my rights?
You should either read or see "The Corporation." It's probably a piece
of left-wing propaganda to you, but it does raise some interesting
points regardless of what you believe or not. Why is a corporation
treated the same was as a person? Corporations don't have morals,
feelings, ideas, etc. - they only have bottom lines, and those are
generally bottom lines that concern nothing but shareholder concerns and
profit. Corporations SHOULD be extremely limited and watched closely.
A corporation should not be allowed to be treated as a singular person,
it's plain and simple. Any laws that limit corporations only limit you
because of this brain dead view of corporations as a person. Until we
overcome that, we're stuck with it. If and when that happens, you as a
person or small-business owner will have MORE rights since corporate
laws only apply to corporations (incorporated LLCs), not to individuals.
> Aren't most laws passed to eliminate some of our freedoms?
Yeah, like a Constitutional Amendment to ban same-sex marriages. Many
laws are made to protect you, too. You just don't hear about those.
The Libertarian version of freedom is a lot more liberal that either the
Democratic or Republican version. It basically just depends on which
ideology you subscribe to.
> On the swift boat thing, I have never seen a document that proves that
> the swift boat people have lied.
There is only one person in the entire string of commercials who
actually served with Kerry. It was on ABC, CBS, NBC, CNN, Fox News,
MSNBC, and even the Daily Show about two weeks ago. I read it in a few
different sources (News Day, NYT, Washington Post AND Times, etc.) too.
The are myriad pages stating this - from all over the political
spectrum. The only things I've read and have not been verified are from
either extremely liberal or extremely conservative sources.
> I just want to get something straight, if I start a 527 group and run
> ads comparing Kerry to Hitler you would have no problem with that. You
> say everyone is like Hitler in someway so I should be able to
> find some compelling arguments to compare the two.
It's the ad version of "push polling," and it has finally entered the
nation level with the introduction of new, vocal 527s. Of course, in
2002 Rove advised Saxby Chambliss, Max Cleland's Senatorial opponent, to
compare him to Saddam Hussein and . Cleland lost. It goes both ways,
and it's almost certainly only going to get worse.
> I see your little link but it doesn't mention the parts were Kerry
> testified to the congress that he was in Cambodia? What about
> that part or are you just not going to address that?
Kerry either misremembered and misspoke or he flat-out lied depending on
your idea of him. Considering that was years ago, it's possible that
we'll never know the truth.
