The problem that I have with pro-lifers is that they aren't when the
killing of a human being can be justified or made less horrible by
saying the doctor was a baby killer.
However, I assume you are referring to HB 156
(http://www.house.state.mo.us/bills03/biltxt/truly/HB0156T.HTM), so let
me respond to how I read that bill:
1. 24 hour waiting period - what about those women who have to travel
long distances to a medical facility for the procedure? Isn't this a
rather undue hardship on someone already under stress, which will also
require multiple trips to the physician ( and the multiple physician
charges that go with it)
2. $500k minimum liability insurance - for what? The facility/doctor
isn't going to shoulder the additional cost themselves, it'll be passed
on to the patient.
Sections 2 & 3, I wholeheartedly agree with, and I certainly don't think
that abortion should be used in place of a contraceptive, but I see this
as just another measure to increase the cost of the procedure in an
attempt to place it financially out of reach of as many people as
possible.
Here's you a quote from
http://www.ppslr.org/Media/Articles/03mar_13_2.htm:
"The message that comes across is that women are somehow different and
less capable of making decisions," said Rep. Vicky Riback Wilson,
D-Columbia. "I resent that implication as a woman."
