I agree with your representation of Ron Reagan, the only reason he is given
any kind of clout is because of his father, if Ron senior were still alive,
Ron Reagan would still be a forgotten voice. He was never a supporter of his
father's anyway so why should we care what he thinks now?
Kerry's problem stemmed from him flaunting his military service. He wanted
to make Bush's problems in the National Guard a political agenda. Well now
there are people out there that are calling him to task. Who is correct? I
certainly was not there so I don't know, but what I do know is that he has
been shown on television throwing away the very medals that he now wants to
have people elect him over. He wants to say "Look at me, I am a war hero!"
Yet he threw those very decorations away in a public display.
This is what is causing Kerry problems. There are many Vietnam vets, world
war 2 vets and ex-military that have a deep pride in what it means to be a
veteran. To see someone so easily swayed into desecrating those things they
were proud to get for their recognition and later want to be named
president? That is a problem for a lot of people.
In reality, whether or not a person served in the military should not mean
anything to who is president. Clinton never served, and I am pretty sure
Reagan never served, but he might have honestly I cannot remember. The point
here is character, it is always about character.
